Service Technician (Idaho)

 

Emergency Vehicle Service Technician
Job Duties: Under the supervision of the Service manager in Springfield Oregon and or Boise Idaho, applicant will perform services in the state of Idaho and Eastern Oregon: analyze equipment malfunctions, accomplish repairs, and perform scheduled maintenance on a variety of standard and specialized emergency vehicles. Duties include but are not limited to: performing timely and economical maintenance and repairs; coordinating parts and supply orders for customers; establishing and maintaining inventories in service vehicle; maintaining records and reports in a timely manner; and performing other duties as assigned. Must possess own hand tools.
Qualifications: Knowledge of: diesel and gas engines; air and hydraulic braking systems; AC and DC electrical systems; automatic and manual transmissions, transfer cases and differentials; fire pumps and AC generators; fire system interlocks; NFPA standards regarding fire apparatus; industry hazards and safety precautions. Must be able to understand and work with a variety of customer complaints and atmospheres. A cool temper is a must!
Skill in: maintaining records and preparing written reports; use of personal computer and software (MS Office).
Ability to: diagnose, repair, and service major and minor mechanical, structural, and electrical fire equipment defects; organize, prioritize, and schedule repairs and service; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; work independently and as part of a team; establish and maintain effective professional working relationships; interpret and explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years experience in mechanical repair of diesel and gasoline powered equipment required. ASE and Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certifications preferred. Fire equipment experience desired.
Licenses Required: Valid driver's license by date of hire. Type A-1 CDL (with air brake endorsement) required within 90 days of date of hire.  Various EVT certifications required within two years of date of hire. Hughes will provide training material. Fees will be reimbursed with passing grade and certificate.
