Under the direction of the President of Service, you will perform specialized and skilled work involving the repair and maintenance of a variety of fire and emergency apparatus. You will also oversee the operations of the service center and surrounding mobile technicians.
Summary of Job Description:
Participates in the mechanical repair of fire apparatus equipment, including rebuilding or repair of pumps, valves and other fire related equipment; diagnose customer’s complaints and perform corrective actions. Ability to diagnose defects, perform mechanical repairs with minimum of supervision. The applicant will be trained to conduct pump tests, aerial inspections and annual inspections. Must be 18 years of age or older by the time of employment.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the operations of location and surrounding mobile technicians
- Assists technicians with troubleshooting and problem solving
- Ensure staffing levels are appropriate for the workload
- Ensure technicians are maintaining billable goals
- Ensures resources are in place for the location to operate effectively
- Ensures requirements are met for the safety and security of the facility and employees

- Direction is received from the Lead Mechanic, Shop Foreman and or Service Manager.
- This position will also be subject at times to overnight assignment.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk over 50% of work time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
